Day 1 April 24: Arrival in Guiyang, Guiyang-Kaili by Private Vehicle

Airport-hotel Transfer

Welcome to capital of Guizhou province-Guiyang. Your friendly tour guide and driver will pick you up at the railway station or airport in Guiyang then enjoy 3 hours scenic drive to Kaili and check in a local hotel.

Recommend activity: if time permits, you can visit local minority museum.

Day 2 April 25: Kaili-Taijiang County-Kaili

Sisters’ Meal Festival

In the morning, drive to Taijiang County. The Sisters’ Meal Festival ceremony is held there and participating around 5 Miao ethnic groups today. The festival is like a hilarious party for young girls and boys who want to look for romantic relationship. The local girls dress themselves up with beautiful embroidery clothes and silver ornaments, looks so pretty! Enjoy the singing and dancing performance in the festival, drum beat and thousands of Miao ethnic groups show their most beautiful cloth. Besides, you will see the colorful glutinous rice prepared by girls and incredible Long Table Banquet served in the festival. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After visiting, return to Kaili hotel.

Day 3 April 26: Kaili-Laotun Village-Zhenyuan County

Sisters’ Meal Festival

Check out from the hotel and driver around 1.5 hours to Laotun Village. It’s quite interesting to see how the local people prepare their silver ornaments and cloth for the Sisters’ Meal Festival. The festival covers various meaningful ceremonies and interesting activities, such as bullfighting, cockfighting, singing and dancing competition and Miao silversmiths competition. Enjoy the highlight-Miao girl’s beauty contest, who dress up their beautiful shining costumes and silk ornaments. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the late afternoon, drive to Zhenyuan Ancient Town(1 hour). It is a historical town in Guizhou for more than 2200 years. Check in the local hotel and the rest of day is free for you to explore.

Recommend activity: Take the optional boat on Wuyang River to enjoy the beautiful night views.

Day 4 April 27: Zhenyuan County-Kaili

Zhenyuan Ancient Town

In the morning, start to explore Zhenyuan Ancient Town. Walk along the ancient street planked with restaurants, stores and various tasty snack food. The Wuyang river passes through the old town and curves like letter S, forming a Eight Diagrams(a set of symbolic signs created in ancient China), hence Zhenyuan Ancient Town also called Eight Diagrams Ancient Town. Walk along the ancient Zhusheng Bridge on the Wuyang river and enjoy the elegant pavilion with curving angles. After enjoying delicious local lunch, hike to the Jade Screen Mountain and have a bird’s view of whole town and Wuyang river. After visiting, visit the Black Dragon Cave which is built in the precipitous cliffs, explore the combination of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism in the temple, appreciate the magnificent pavilions, green mountain, ancient trees and cliff and caves along the way, you’ll marvel at this eye-popping historical site, which even regarded as one of aerial architectural complex with Maiji Mountain Grottoes in Tianshui and Hanging Temple in Datong. Return to Kaili(2hrs) and check in the local hotel.

Day 5 April 28: Kaili-Rongjiang

Langde Miao Village, Kaitun Rice Terrace

After breakfast, drive 30 minutes to Langde Miao Village. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted by local girls offering bowls of rice wine, pass through the twelve road blocking and drink twelve bowls of rice wine if you are interested. Enjoy the singing and dancing performance and participate in the locals, experience unique travel experience. Afterward, start to visit a local family who live in the traditional Diaojiaolou wooden house, taste local authentic lunch before transferring to Rongjiang(2.5hrs). On the way to Rongjiang, pay a visit to Kaitun Rice Terrace, fields of terrace filled with water, it look like rippling silver pond when you looking from afar. Traditional houses are built along the mountain, forming a beautiful Chinese pastoral painting with surrounding mountains, rivers and farmland. After visiting, check in the hotel in Rongjiang.

Day 6 April 29: Rongjiang-Congjiang-Zhaoxing

In the morning, check out from the hotel and take a leisurely stroll in the market to experience the lively local lifestyle. On the way to Zhaoxing county, you will visit Basha Miao Village where the village remains the original lifestyle. This village is regarded as the last gunner tribe in China, you will enjoy the exciting show including wrestling, singing and dancing, gun shooting, wedding ceremony etc. Men in this village value their hair, it’s the most important gender symbol in men’s costumes. During the performance, you will view how they shave the hair by a sickle, quite interesting! After enjoying delicious lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to Zhaoxing Dong Village(1h) and check in the hotel. In 2007, it was selected as one of the 33 most attractive destinations in the world by National Geographic. Wander around the village and appreciate the drum towers and traditional buildings, such as famous drum town, wind and rain bridge which reflect the the wisdom of Dong ethnic group. In the evening, enjoy the World Heritage-Dong Chorus and join in the exciting singing and dancing performance.

Day 7 April 30: Departure from Zhaoxing

Drive to Tang’an Dong Village and start your wonderful hiking trip, enjoy the beautiful rice terraces as hiking up to the top, green rices are waving in the farmland and dotted with traditional houses among the mountains, inhale the fresh air and relax in the trip. Besides, you have the chance to visit the museum built by China and Norway, get to know the culture about drum tower, stage, Diaojiaolou building, ancient tomb, stone street and spinning wheel etc. After enjoying delicious lunch and you’ll be sent back to Congjiang railway station.

Yes everything was spectacular and fascinating very professional and prompt services. There were beautiful places to explore and to see in the 4 hours that we had. The comfort and beauty of the China was incredible, The history, culture and way of life of the local people we bumped into during the layover was beyond our expectations. Hiking on the Great wall after driving through a small remote countryside was very relaxing and rejuvenating. It was the best trip ever to experience on a few hours.

We had not previously used a travel agency for touring. The crew including the driver and tour guide were really funny, friendly and knowledgeable. Despite having limited time we still had free time allowing for shopping and grabbing a meal and drinks. Highly recommend this layover in Beijing.

Well worth it! Jenny was really nice and incredibly helpful with the immigration process after airport personnel originally escorted to the wrong area and didn’t want to allow leaving the airport. She takes great photos! Beautiful views and fun to take the toboggan down. Wasn’t too crowded on this day - and definitely worth doing with a 7 hour layover. Nice car and driver too.

I used China tour company to visit Hangzhou on on feb 7th. It’s a private tour. The experience is very pleasant and enjoyable. Tour guide Mr. Mark Zhou was very good. He speaks good English and very patient. He knows his stuff. I visited West Lake , Buddhist temple and the Pagoda. The tour was very enjoying and place (Hangzhou) is a must to see if you wish to enjoy the nature and Chinese culture and tradition. I recommend it to every one visiting China.
