Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Monastery, Datong Nine Dragon Screen
Today, pick you up at the hotel or railway station in the morning then start your exciting tour at the Yungang Grottoes, which hold 53 grottoes with 51,000 statues, explore spectacular UNESCO site. Afterwards, move on to the Huayan Monastery that has turned out to be a regional museum. Finally, have a look at the Nine Dragon Screen, the oldest and largest glazed screen in China. The dragons on the wall appear so vivid and marvelous that you can't imagine they were built over 600 years ago.

Day 2 Datong-Mount Wutai by Private Vehicle
Hanging Monastery, Yingxian Wooden Tower
After breakfast, you will go to visit the Hanging Monastery for one hour's driving. Here you have enough time to unlock the mystery why this unusual temple could stand in the precarious position. After that, drive another 1 hour to Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the 'First Pagoda in the World' and visit this oldest and highest wooden gem in the architectural field. After that, drive 3 hours to Mount Wutai and reside overnight in Wutai county.

Day 3 Wutai Mountain-Taiyuan by Private Vehicle

Today you'll enjoy a whole day Buddhism cultural exploration to Wutai Mountain, a World Heritage site. With kinds of temples gathering and many cultural relics left tracing back to Qing dynasty; Tayuan Temple is famous for a white pagoda-the landmark of Mount Wutai; Pusa Ding, the only one monastery of Gelugpa sect brings more Buddhist features. If you have a religious belief, make wishes when walking around these temples, maybe someday, you will be surprised. After the tour of Mt Wutai, drive 3 hours to Taiyuan and check in the hotel.

Jin Memorial Temple, Qiao Family Compound
After breakfast, head to Jin Memorial Temple at first, which combines the historic cultural relics and fabulous natural landscapes together. Later transfer to Qiao Family Compound which used to be the house of a famous local financier during the Qing dynasty. Built in 1756, this well-preserved compound shows you how the traditional north China folk house was like in the past. After visiting, transfer to Pingyao Ancient City and check in the hotel.

On this day, your guide will pick you at your hotel. Your Pingyao Ancient City tour starts from the Ancient City Wall of Pingyao, where you can have a panorama view of the layout of this town. Then you will move on to the Rishengchang Former Bank, which shows you the original bank system in the past. After that, stroll on the traditional Ming and Qing Street, a cobbled road with old buildings on either side. You may like tracing back to the former bustle bazaar in the old days. Later on, visit the Temple of City God, which also called Chenghuangmiao in Chinese. You will appreciate the wonderful wood carvings, paintings and sculptures in the old temple. Tour ends from sending you to railway station or local hotel.
