Day 1 Shangri-la-Deqin County by Private Vehicle

Napahai Lake, Big Bend of Jinshajiang, Flying Temple, Meili Snow Mountain

You will be picked up by a tour guide and driver from the Shangri-La Hotel at 9 am. After 20 minutes drive, Napahai Lake is the first stop you will visit. A flock of sheep, yak groups, meadow and Tibetan village are all scenes catching your eyes. Napahai Lake is a seasonal lake at high altitude and also a swamp meadow, for this reason, it is the winter home for many kinds of migrating birds. Then go to Benzilan for lunch. In Tibetan words, Benzilan is the name for "beautiful sandbank". After lunch, you will be taken to "Big Bend of Jinshajiang". Jinshajiang passes through the steep valley, a U-shaped bend is formed around Rizhui peak. Next, you will be taken to Flying Temple. It was built in Ming Dynasty in 1614 with a history over 390 years, located in the mountain "Zhenyi" which is famous for its firm and towering shape, and majesty figure. The mountain is sparsely-populated with various type trees and purple bamboo. The hanging vines of the ancient tree are like the hanging jade curtain. You will enjoy the sunset of Meili Snow Mountain from Flying Temple. Overnight at Deqin.

Day 2 Deqin County-Shangri-la by Private Vehicle

Baima Snow Mountain, Dongzhulin Temple, Nixi Pottery Village

After watching the sunrise of Meili Snow Mountain and taking photos of this national wonders, you will return back to Shangri-la. On the way, you will have a view on Baima Snow Mountain capped with crystal snow. Later, continue your trip to Dongzhulin Temple, which was built in 1667 during Qing dynasty and currently reside over 700 monks. After lunch, you will have one-hour visiting time to Nixi Pottery Village, and you will learn form locals on how to make earthenware products. Transfer to hotel in Shangri-la.

Yes everything was spectacular and fascinating very professional and prompt services. There were beautiful places to explore and to see in the 4 hours that we had. The comfort and beauty of the China was incredible, The history, culture and way of life of the local people we bumped into during the layover was beyond our expectations. Hiking on the Great wall after driving through a small remote countryside was very relaxing and rejuvenating. It was the best trip ever to experience on a few hours.

We had not previously used a travel agency for touring. The crew including the driver and tour guide were really funny, friendly and knowledgeable. Despite having limited time we still had free time allowing for shopping and grabbing a meal and drinks. Highly recommend this layover in Beijing.

Well worth it! Jenny was really nice and incredibly helpful with the immigration process after airport personnel originally escorted to the wrong area and didn’t want to allow leaving the airport. She takes great photos! Beautiful views and fun to take the toboggan down. Wasn’t too crowded on this day - and definitely worth doing with a 7 hour layover. Nice car and driver too.
