Lanzhou Airport also called Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport is situated 75km from the city centre of Lanzhou. 1947 meters high above sea level. It covers an area of 843.1 hectares, was constructed in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Airport 4D-class standards, to ensure the safety of aircraft landing and medium-sized. Runway length of 3600m, width 60m, terminal area of 27,500 square meters At present, it has two terminals, Terminal 1 is for international departure and Terminal 2 which was newly accomplished in 2015 is for domestic departure. Domestic flights to Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dunhuang, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Haikou, Hangzhou, Jiayuguan, Kunming, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Ürümqi, Wenzhou, Wuhan, Xiamen, Xi'an and Zhengzhoun as well as the flights within Gansu Province to Jiayuguan and Dunhuang .international flights to Hong Kong, Macao ,Taipei, Thailand (Suvarnabhumi Airport) , Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Nagoya , Dubai, Moscow(Sheremetyevo Airport),St Petersburg and Frankfurt

Dunhuang Airport located 13 kilometers east of Dunhuang City is one of the eight civil airports in Gansu province .Currently It only  has direct flight routes from Dunhuang to Lanzhou, Zhangye, Jingchang Xi'an, Beijing, Jiayuguan and Urumqi,Shanghai Note :During the peak season (May 1st - October 31st),  airfare are tight, especially during the summer and the National day (1st Oct -7th Oct), so it is safer to book  in advance.

Jiayaguan Airport (JGN IATA) is located 11 km NE of the city center. Which can reach almost all the famous scenic spots in Gansu. Now there are direct routes to Beijing, Guangzhou, Lanzhou, Xi'an, Chongqing, Chengdu and Dunhuang .At present, there is no airport shuttle bus connect to downtown ,except to take a taxi.

Zhangye Ganzhou Airport ( YZY ) Opened in 2011, this airport 13 km south of the city has flights to or from Xi'an, Lanzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, and a few other major domestic airports  However, many of these flights make stops en route, operate only on specific days, and do not operate over the winter. Zhangye has frequent high-speed train connect from Lanzhou via Xining, both of which have much larger airports than Zhangye's. 

Lanzhou Railway Station  is Opened in October 1952 under the jurisdiction of the Lanzhou Railway Bureau. Which handles both passenger and freight as a Chinese classified first-class station .it is the main station for  conventional trains to everywhere in the country and also served by a few high-speed trains, and by the airport train.

Lanzhou West Railway Station equal Lanzhou railway station in importance for long distance and regional rail services. It will also serve as a major transportation interchange with a major long distance and local bus terminal the station hall built over 5 main levels, 2 above ground and 3 below, with an area of 220,000m2, making it the largest transportation building in Lanzhou. It features 13 platforms, 2 side platforms and 11 island platforms, servicing 26 tracks.Now it has become the terminal for most high-speed trains that run from Lanzhou to Xining (1 h 15 min), Jiayuguan (4 h 30 min), and Urumqi (11 h 30 mfor most high-speed trains that run from Lanzhou to Xining (1 h 15 min), Jiayuguan (4 h 30 min), and Urumqi (11 h 30 min).

Dunhuang Railway Station is about 12km away from center of the city .It is well equipped new station with green buses meeting every train to shuttle passengers into town. Just come out the front of the train station and they will usher you into the next bus and for 3 yuan drop you opposite the Silk Road Hotel in town on the edge of the market. There is also a ticket agent in town, near the mosque which sells tickets for most trains. You can always get the bus back to the railway station to buy your ticket if heading to the Caves as you can walk to Caves entrance from the stationJiayuguan, Lanzhou and Xi'an have direct trains to Dunhuang Railway Station:Jiayuguan-Dunhuang Station: More than 400 kilometers away, the whole journey is about 5 hours, the fare: about 55/100 yuan (hard seat / hard sleeper);Lanzhou-Dunhuang Station: There are two trains that are all in the evening, the whole journey is about 14 hours. The fare is about 150/250 yuan (hard seat/hard sleeper). These two trains are often full during the peak period of travel, sometimes with hard seat tickets. Can't buy it;Xi'an-Dunhuang Station: The whole journey is about 22 hours. The fare is about 200/360 yuan (hard seat/hard sleeper).

Liuyuan Railway Station is located on the Lanxin Railway Line, it has direct train to Shanghai, Beijing West, Xi'an, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Urumqi and other large and medium cities. Beijing-Liuyuan Station, about 25 hours, Shanghai-Liuyuan Station, about 34 hours.

Jiayuguan South Railway Station  is to the south east of the town in a new development area and connects to Lanzhou & Urumqi with the D type trains.-Lanzhou - takes about 4 hours-Xining - takes about 3 hours-Zhangye - takes about 1 hour-Turpan - takes about 5 hours-Urumqi - takes about 6 hours

Jiayuguan Railway Station is on Yingbin West Road, southwest of the town center.-Beijing - takes about 33 hours-Chengdu - takes about 26 hours-Liuyuan - takes about 6 hours-Shanghai - takes about 28 hours-Turpan - takes about 17 hours-Urumqi - takes about 13-18 hours-Xian - takes about 20 hours-Lanzhou - takes about 9 hours-Dunhuang - takes about 5 hours

Zhangye Railway Station is located  6.5km northeast of the central part of town.  About 49 passenger train lines link with  Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu, Urumqi and Lanzhou. 

Zhangye West Railway Station is in the southwest of town,  This new high-speed station has D-train service to destinations such as Urumqi (8.5-9.5h, ), Xining (2h, ), Lanzhou (3-3.5h, ), and Xi'an (6.5-7h, )

There are more than 6,000 taxis in Lanzhou. The charge price is 7 yuan within 3 kilometers, then 1.4 yuan for each additional kilometer. 

The starting price of Dunhuang taxi: 5 yuan within the first 2 km, and thereafter 1.4 yuan / km for every additional km 

Most of the tourist attractions in Jiayuguan City can be taken by taxi. The starting price is 6 yuan within 2KM.

In Zhangye,  Taking taxis are more convenient and economical than buses, and are the preferred transportation for tourists. Zhangye taxi starting price is 4 yu
