Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the main research base for preserve endangered pandas and other species like golden monkeys, black swans, black-necked cranes, white storks etc. It opened in 1987 to care for rescued wild pandas and now becomes one of the popular attractions for travelers to visiting cute pandas.

It locates just 10km away from Chengdu downtown area, and it has been created and imitated the pandas' natural habitat with an area of 165 acres and high green vegetation rate in order that they might have the best environment for rearing and breeding. Verdant bamboo, bright flowers, fresh air, a natural hill scene and a beautiful artificial view are merged ingeniously at the base.

It provides visitors the opportunity to observe and learn about these dying species. You can walk through the forested landscape; watch as giant pandas playing, napping, and eating green bamboo; visit the panda nursery to pay a closer attention to the little lovely creature; and watch funny videos for panda behaviors and learn the challenges of working with and breeding captive pandas.
