Located in Sanya, capital of Hainan Province and the most beautiful coast city of China, Nanshan, or South Mountain, is the southmost mountain throughout the country. Nanshan Temple is a Buddhist temple located in the foothills of Mount Danxia to the south of Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, People's Republic of China. It is one of the most important Chinese Buddhism temples on the Chinese mainland.
Nanshan Temple is built in the typical style with the central axis. Completed in 1998 with an area of some 266,667 square meters in Tang style, Nanshan Temple is made up of a series of Buddhist structures, e.g. Renwang Hall, Mahavira Hall, Eastern and Western side halls, drum tower and bell tower, Avalokitesvara Courtyard, which creat a well-proportioned layout in Nanshan Mountain. This amazing national treasure is a 3.8-meter high Golden Jade Kwan-yin Statue. It is covered with 100 kg of gold and silver, embedded with 120 carats of South African diamonds plus countless jewels, and containing two sacred Buddhist relics.
